Positive thinking is a technique that can be learned, and there are several ways of making it work better for you. 

Positive thinking can be learned, and here are some ways to increase your positive attitude -

  1. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Be aware of the conversation you are having with yourself in your own mind. Listen to it and replace negative thoughts with positive ones as soon as you hear them.
  2. Concentrate on the positive not the negative. Look at what went right and praise it rather than what went wrong and blame it.
  3. Control your emotions. Don't let them control you. How you react to situations is completely under your control.
  4. Visualisation. Relax an visualise a situation that is coming up that you are worried about. See yourself being successful, and achieving the outcome you want.
  5. Anticipation. Expect things to turn out well and plan what to do next, but still have a backup plan if things fail
  6. Affirmations. Some people find that learning and saying a positive phrase regularly can work. One example is the French pharmacist who in 1920 at his clinic at Nancy asked all his patients to repeat every day, "Every day, and in every way, I am becoming better and better."
  7. Be with positive people and avoid associating with negative people. Optimism and pessimism rub off on you.
  8. Good self confidence and self esteem make it easier to have a positive attitude.
  9. Avoid negative people. Negative talk will bring your mood down.Avoid friends, family and conversations that are negative
  10. Avoid negative TV and news. Your subconscious mind absorbs everything you see and hear, so avoid negative programming.
  11. Be healthy. Look after yourself and you will have more energy to be positive.Nutrition, exercise and sleep all help.
  12. Be sociable. Talk to people. Meet people. Use social networking to keep in touch on a personal level.
