Gavilast-P (24 Tablets) [P]
Gavilast-P easy to swallow fast acting tablets bring relief for up to 12 hours:
- Gavilast-P prevents heartburn and indigestion when taken half an hour before eating and drinking
- Also provides effective relief from the symptoms relief of heartburn and acid indigestion
Gavilast-P contains Ranitidine: Ranitidine belongs to a class of medicines called H2 antagonists, which work by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach.
Gavilast-P how to take:
- Do not give to children under 16 years of age
- Always follow the instructions in your own product
For the treatment of acid indigestion:
Adults, the elderly and young persons over 16 years of age: Swallow one tablet whole, with a drink of water, as soon as you have the symptoms
- If symptoms persist for more than one hour or return, take another tablet
For the prevention of acid indigestion:
Adults, the elderly and young persons over 16 years of age: Swallow one tablet whole, with a drink of water, half to one hour before eating or drinking.
- Do not take more than four tablets in any 24 hour period in divided doses
- If your symptoms last far more than 2 weeks or get worse, stop taking Gavilast-P and consult your doctor who will be able to advise you
- Do not take for more than 2 weeks continuously unless advised by your doctor
- If you, or anybody else, takes too many Gavilast-P consult a doctor immediately.
Each Gavilast-P Tablet contains the active ingredient: Ranitidine 75mg (as the hydrochloride).
Also contains: Microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium searate, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, titanium dioxide (171), polydextrose, triethyl citrate, poly-ethylene glycol, sunset yellow (E110), and iron oxide yellow (E172).
Before you take Gavilast-P speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you:
- Are pregnant or trying to become pregnant
- Are you breastfeedingSuffer from any liver or kidney problems
- Are you allergic to Ranitidine or any of the other ingredients
- Are allergic to Aspirin or other Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs)
- Have you been told that you suffer from an unusually slow heart rate
- Suffer from a condition called porphyria
- Have the symptoms of excess acid and have experienced unintended weight loss
- Have new or recently changed symptoms of excess acid and are middle aged or elderly
- Have any other illnesses, or are under medical supervision
- Are taking any other medicines, either prescribed by your doctor, bought from your pharmacist, or elsewhere.
If you are currently taking Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory medicines: especially if you are elderly, speak to your doctor before taking these Gavilast-P.
- Do not take Gavilast-P tablets if you may be allergic to any of the ingredients, especially the colouring agent E110 (Sunset Yellow). E110 can cause allergic type reactions including asthma. This allergy is more likely if you are allergic to Aspirin.
Medicines can cause unwanted side effects in some people: If after taking Gavilast-P you suffer from any of the following, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor or pharmacist: Sudden wheeziness or tightness of the chest; swelling of the eyelids, face or lips, with or without a lumpy-skin rash (hives) anywhere on the body; unexplained fever or feeling faint, especially on standing up.
Rarely a skin rash (red spots); serious illness with blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes and genitals; nausea (feeling sick); loss of appetite with or without jaundice (yellow colour of the skin and whites of the eyes); confusion; slow or irregular heart beat; unusual tiredness, shortness of breath, a tendency to have infections, bruising (which can be caused by changes to your blood count); severe stomach pain rarely caused by an inflamed pancreas; headaches or dizziness.
Very occasionally pains in muscles or joints; feelings of depression; hallucinations, breast tenderness and/or enlargement in men; interference with sexual function (impotence) has also rarely been reported, which is normally reversible and should get better once you stop taking the medicine; hair loss; uncontrolled movements and inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis).
