Corsodyl Dental Gel (50g) [P]
Corsodyl Dental Gel can be used as an aid to:
- Treat and prevent gingivitis (gum disease)
- Maintain mouth hygiene
- Promote gum healing after surgery or treatment
- Manage recurring mouth ulcers
- Manage denture sore mouth and oral thrush
- Prevent cavities for those at high risk of tooth decay
Use: Brushing with Corsodyl Dental Gel inhibits the formation of dental plaque.
How to use
Adults, elderly and children:
- Gingivitis, oral hygiene: brush your teeth for at least one minute once or twice daily using 2cm of gel. Continue the treatment for about one month.
- Ulcers, thrush: apply gel directly to the sore areas using your fingertip or a cotton bud. Continue use for 2 days after healing has occurred.
- Denture sore mouth: smear gel lightly over the fitting surfaces of the dentures before insertion; cleanse and soak the dentures in Corsodyl Mouthwash for 15 minutes twice daily.
- Dental surgery or tooth decay: use as directed by your dentist.
When using: Corsodyl Dental Gel may cause some discolouration of the tongue and teeth but this is not permanent and disappears after treatment is stopped.
Tooth staining can be prevented by:
- brushing daily with a conventional toothpaste and rinsing the mouth thoroughly with water before using Corsodyl Dental Gel.
- avoiding tannin-containing food and drinks (e.g. tea, coffee, red wine) for at least one hour after using Corsodyl Dental Gel.
However in some cases, a simple scale and polish by your dentist or hygienist may be necessary to remove the discolouration completely. Dentures may be cleaned with conventional denture cleaner.
Ingredients:
Corsodyl Dental Gel contains: 1% w/w chlorhexidine digluconate (equivalent to 5% v/w chlorhexidine digluconate solution Ph Eur).
Also contains: hydroxypropylcellulose, macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, sodium acetate, levomenthol, peppermint oil, isopropyl alcohol and purified water.
Do not use:
If you are sensitive to chlorhexidine or any of the other ingredients listed on this carton.
Before using: No special precautions are needed if you are pregnant or breast feeding but as with all medicines you should consult your doctor before using.
Toothpastes may stop Corsodyl Dental Gel working properly if used immediately after the gel. To prevent this, use toothpaste first or at a different time of the day and rinse your mouth thoroughly with water before using Corsodyl Dental Gel.
You may notice a change of taste or a burning sensation on the tongue when you first use the gel. These effects usually go away as you continue to use the product.
Occasionally the gel may cause skin irritation. Very rarely allergic reactions may occur. If you are concerned by these or any other unwanted effects, stop using the medicine and consult your doctor or dentist
For safe use:
- Keep out of the eyes and ears. If contact occur, wash out promptly and thoroughly with water.
- Not intended to be swallowed. Accidentally swallowing this product is unlikely to cause harm. However if you are concerned, consult your doctor.
- For oral use only
- Avoid bleaching any fabrics that have been in contact with the gel, as brown stains may develop.
