Bonjela Adult (15g)
Bonjela is a sugar free pain relieving gel which also reduces inflammation and helps fight infection in mouth ulcers, dentures sore spots and cold sores.
- Clinically shown to aid the healing and relieve the pain of mouth ulcers caused by braces and dentures
Age Restrictions: This product is no longer recommended for children under the age of 16 as the salicylate content has a theoretical risk of Causing Reye's Syndrome in the same way that Aspirin can. Bonjela Teething Gel and all products listed under Teething are suitable for teething pain in babies and children.
How to use Bonjela Gel:
- Not suitable for children under 16 years old
- Always follow the instructions in your own product
Mouth ulcers and sores:
- Massage approximately one centimetre (half and inch) of Bonjela onto the sore area
- This can be repeated after 3 hours
Denture Sores:
- Massage approximately one centimetre of Bonjela onto the sore area
- Leave at least 30 minutes before reinserting the dentures
- Do not apply Bonjela Gel directly onto the dentures
If symptoms persist for more than 7 days consult your doctor or dentist
Bonjela Gel has the active ingredients: Choline salicylate 8.714% w/w, cetalkonium chloride 0.010% w/w.
Also contains: Ethanol (33.45% w/w), glycerol, menthol, hypromellose 4500, anise oil, sodium saccharin and water.
As with all medicines Bonjela Gel may not be suitable for everybody:
Do not give to children or adolescents under 16 years of age: This is because there is a possible link between salicylates and Reye's syndrome when given to children.
Do not use Bonjela Gel if you are:
- Suffering from a stomach ulcer
- Allergic to salicylates or any of the other ingredients
- Taking medicine for blood clots or gout
Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Bonjela Gel if you are: Pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding.
Ethanol may be unsuitable for use in some patients, particularly those with epilepsy or brain damage or who cannot tolerate alcohol.
- Reactions such as an asthma attack may occasionally occur in people sensitive to salicylates
- Glycerol can be harmful in high doses and can cause headache, stomach upset and diarrhoea
