Bonjela Cool Mint Sugar Free Gel is a clear, almost colourless gel, which is applied to the inside of the mouth or gums:

Bonjela Cool Mint Gum contains:

• Choline Salicylate: a pain killer and anti-inflammatory which soothes sore areas in the mouth
• Cetalkonium Chloride: an antiseptic which kills bacteria and help prevent infection

Bonjela Cool Mint is used to:

• Relieve the pain and discomfort of common mouth ulcers and cold sores
• Aid healing of sore spots and ulcers due to dentures and braces

Age Restrictions: This product is no longer recommended for children under the age of 16 as the salicylate content has a theoretical risk of Causing Reye's Syndrome in the same way that Aspirin can. Bonjela Teething Gel and all products listed under Teething are suitable for teething pain in babies and children.

How to use Bonjela Cool Mint Gel:

• Always follow the instructions in your own product
• For adults and children over the age of 16 years only

Mouth ulcers and sores:

• Massage approximately one centimetre (half and inch) of Bonjela Cool Mint Gel onto the sore area
• This can be repeated after 3 hours

Denture Sores:

• Massage approximately one centimetre of bonjela cool mint gel onto the sore area
• Leave at least 30 minutes before reinserting the dentures
• Do not apply Bonjela Cool Mint Gel directly onto the dentures

Do not exceed the stated dose as salicylate toxicity may occur as a result. In the event of an overdose, seek medical advice.

If your symptoms do not go away after 7 days of treatment, you should see your doctor or dentist.

Bonjela Cool Mint Gel contains the active ingredients: Choline salicylate 8.714% w/w and cetalkonium chloride 0.01% w/w.

Other ingredients: Ethanol, glycerol, menthol, hypromellose 4500, mint flavour, sodium saccharin and water.

As with all medicines Bonjela Cool Mint Gel may not be suitable for everybody:

Do not give to children or adolescents under 16 years of age: This is because there is a possible link between salicylates and Reye's syndrome when given to children. Reye's syndrome is a very rare disease which affects the brain and liver and can be fatal.

Do not use Bonjela Gel if you are:

• Suffering from a stomach ulcer
• Allergic to salicylates or any of the other ingredients

Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Bonjela Cool Mint Gel if you are:

• Pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding
• Taking other medicines: Salicylates may increase the effect of blood thinning medicines (anticoagulants) and can decrease the effect of medicines to treat gout (uricosurics) such as probenic acid, benzbromarone.

Bonjela Cool Mint Gel contains a small amount of ethanol (alcohol), less than 100mg per dose.

As with all medicines Bonjela Cool Mint Gel can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them: Allergic reactions to salicylates such as an asthma attack may occur.
