Children's Omega-3

Omega-3 fish oil supplements have become popular for children, as it is now realised that omega-3 fatty acids are essential for brain function and development during pregnancy for the unborn child, during childhood and teenage development, and also during adult life.

Low levels of Omega-3 fatty acids have been associated with various development and behaviour disorders in children including ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), dyslexia, dyspraxia and autism.

The Durham Trial has been widely reported where significant improvements were obtained in concentration and behaviour in children leading to improved school results by using the omega-3 supplement Eye Q. The initial results were so encouraging that the Durham Trial was extended, and now includes pre-school children from nursery school, as well as primary and secondary school children. In all age groups an improvement in concentration and behaviour was seen, as well as improvements in language development and impulsive behaviour. Improvement was also seen in particularly disruptive children. Overall this lead to a significant improvement in school tests and results.
