Product Info

Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray can be used any time in the year to prevent and treat common symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis, including hayfever, such as sneezing and a runny, itchy or blocked-up nose. Allergic rhinitis can be brought on by different 'triggers', such as pollen, cats, dogs, horses, house dust etc. When your nose is cleared the pressure and pain around your nose and eyes is also reduced.

  • Beconase Hayfever can be used by adults aged 18 and over

Beconase Hayfever gives long lasting relief from airborne allergies such as:

  • Hayfever
  • Pet hair allergy

Beconase Hayfever contains a corticosteroids called beclometasone dipropionate: This has an anti-inflammatory action.

  • Corticosteroids must be used regularly, every day, for maximum effect.
  • Beconase Hayfever works by reducing swelling and irritation in the nose, so helping to relieve uncomfortable symptoms
Directions

Beconase Hayfever Dose:

  • Adults aged 18 and over: Two sprays into each nostril every morning and evening
  • Beconase Hayfever Relief for Adults Nasal Spray is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age
  • Shake before use
Beconase Hayfever quickly starts to reduce inflammation and swelling in your nose, although it may take 2 or 3 days to build up to its maximum protective effect. Therefore, to prevent the onset of symptoms start to use Beconase Hayfever two or three days before exposure to one of your usual 'triggers'.
  • Once your symptoms have improved, you may be able to reduce the dose to one spray into each nostril every morning and evening.
  • If your symptoms get worse again, return to a dose of two sprays into each nostril every morning and evening.
  • Try to use the lowest dose that controls your symptoms.
  • Do not use more than 8 sprays (400 micrograms) in a day.

How to use your nasal spray: Your Beconase Hayfever spray has a dust cap which protects the nozzle and keeps it clean. Remember to take it off before using the spray.

A new spray, or one which has not been used for a few days, may not work the first time. You may need to 'prime' the bottle by pumping the spray a few times until a fine mist is produced. To do this hold the bottle as shown. Put your forefinger and middle finger on the collar either side of the nozzle and your thumb underneath the bottle.

Keeping your thumb still, press down with your fingers to pump the spray. Hold the nozzle pointing away from you while you are doing this.

If the spray still doesn't work and you think it may be blocked, clean it as described under 'To clean the nasal spray' section. Never try to unblock it or enlarge the tiny spray hole with a pin or other sharp object because this will destroy the spray mechanism.

Using your Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray:

Always follow the instructions in your own leaflet

  • Use only in your nose. Make sure you don't get the spray in your eyes

Using the Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray
  1. Shake the bottle and remove the dust cap
  2. Blow your nose gently
  3. Close one nostril and put the nozzle in the other nostril. Tilt your head forward slightly and keep the bottle upright.
  4. Start to breathe in slowly through your nose. While you are the breathing in squirt a spray of fine mist into your nostril by pressing down firmly on the collar with your fingers
  5. Breathe out through your mouth. Repeat step 4 to take a second spray in the same nostril
  6. Remove the nozzle from this nostril and breathe out through your mouth
