Benadryl Plus Capsules provide relief from the symptoms of hayfever and similar allergic conditions.

They contain:

  • Acrivastine (an antihistamine) to relieve allergy symptoms
  • Pseudoephedrine (a decongestant) to help unblock a stuffy nose so that you can breathe more easily

Pseudoephedrine Restrictions: Products containing pseudoephedrine are legally limited to one item per order,because this has in some cases been used to manufacture illegal drugs

Directions

How to take Benadryl Plus Capsules

For oral use:
Adults and children 12 years and over:
Swallow one capsule with a glass of water as necessary up to three times a day.

No more than 3 capsules should be taken in 24 hours.

Not recommended for use in the elderly (over 65 years) or for children under 12 years.

If you take more Benadryl Plus than you should
, talk to your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Contents

Each capsule contains the active ingredients: Acrivastine 8 mg and Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 60 mg.

The capsule also contains: Lactose, sodium starch glycollate, magnesium stearate, gelatin, titanium dioxide (E1 71) and Patent Blue V (E1 31).

Warnings

Do not take Benadryl Plus Capsules if:

  • If you have ever had a reaction to any of the ingredients in Benadryl Plus, or to the antihistamine triprolidine
  • You have high blood pressure or heart disease
  • You are taking or have taken within the last two weeks, Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs), which are a type of drug for depression.
  • You are taking the antibacterial agent furazolidone
  • You have kidney problems
  • You have an inherited intolerance to lactose, or related conditions

    Take special care with Benadryl Plus Capsules if:
    If you have diabetes, an over-active thyroid gland, glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) or prostate disease.

    Pregnancy and breast-feeding
  • Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.

    Driving and using machinery
  • Tests have shown that Benadryl Plus does not cause drowsiness in the majority of sufferers and will therefore not normally affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, as with all antihistamines there are rare exceptions and care should be taken when Benadryl Plus is used for the first time.
  • Benadryl Plus should not be taken whilst under the influence of alcohol if you are operating machinery or driving.

Taking other medicines

  • Take special care if you are taking other medicines including:
  • Medicines for high blood pressure e.g. bretylium, betanidine, guanethidine, debrisoquine, methyldopa, alpha and beta adrenergic blocking agents.
  • Tricyclic anti-depressants, decongestants, appetite suppressants or medicines that work like amphetamines (stimulants)
  • Sedatives or alcohol

If you are unsure if a medicine your are taking is one of those mentioned above, then show the pack to your pharmacist

Possible side-effects:
Like all medicines, Benadryl Plus can have side-effects, although these are usually mild. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any of the following: Skin rash, difficulty sleeping, difficulty passing urine, hallucinations.
