Product Info

Otrivine Antistin Eye Drops are a combination of a decongestant and an anti-allergic agent.

Otrivine Antistin Eye Drops are for temporary relief of redness and itching of the eye caused by seasonal and perennial allergies such as hay fever and house dust allergy.

DirectionsOtrivine Antistin Eye Drops the usual dosage is:
  • Adults: One or two drops in each eye, two or three times each day
  • Elderly and children over 5 years: One drop in each eye, two or three times each day

These drops are not recommended for use in children under the age of 5 years.

How to use your eye drops:

  • Wash your hands
  • Remove cap from bottle and hold
  • Tilt your head backwards
  • Rest one hand on your cheek and gently pull down your lower eye lid
  • Look upward
  • Squeeze the bottle to release one or two drops into the eye
  • Close your eyelid for a short time
  • Repeat for the other eye

Note: Do not touch your eye with the tip of the dropper

Follow the instructions carefully. If there is anything you do not understand, ask your pharmacist.

Otrivine Antistin Eye Drops contain two active ingredients: xylometazoline hydrochloride (0.05% w/v) and antazoline sulphate (0.05% w/v).

They also contain benzalkonium chloride, boric acid, disodium edetate, sodium tetraborate and water.

WarningsBefore you use Otrivine Antistin Eye Drops:
  • Do not use these eye drops if you wear contact lenses of any type or if you are allergic to any of the constituents of the drops.

Consult your doctor before you use the drops if:

  • You are pregnant or breast-feeding
  • You have been treated for eye disease or have had eye surgery before
  • You suffer from dry eyes
  • You suffer, or have suffered, from glaucoma
  • You are taking, or in the last 14 days have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors

Consult either your doctor or pharmacist before you use the drops if:

  • You are currently receiving medication from your doctor
  • You suffer from high blood pressure, a heart condition, a thyroid problem or diabetes

Side effects which may occur
Unwanted side effects such as a stinging sensation on insertion of the drops can occur in some people. Very occasionally other effects such as blurred vision, headache, drowsiness and increased redness of the eye have been reported. In certain sensitive individuals systemic effects may occur and can include irregular heart beat, headache, paleness and sweating.

Rebound congestion may follow prolonged frequent use

If you experience any pain, changes in vision, continued redness of the eye or if any unwanted effects worsen or last for more that 48 hours, consult your doctor.

If the product is accidentally swallowed consult a doctor

Storage of the eye drops

  • Do not use the eye drops after the expiry date shown on the bottle (EXP)
  • Do not use the eye drops for longer than one month after opening the bottle
  • Do not store above 25°C
  • Keep all medicines safely away from children
