Sudafed Decongestant Nasal Spray

Sudafed Nasal Spray contains Xylometazoline hydrochloride, a topical decongestant which unblocks stuffy noses. Non-Drowsy Sudafed Decongestant Nasal Spray is used to help clear stuffy noses associated with colds and allergies such as hayfever.

This product is a clear colourless solution.

Directions

Sudafed Decongestant Nasal Spray Directions:

Adults and children over 12 years: One spray into each nostril 2 or 3 times a day, as required. Maximum daily dose: 3 sprays.

  • Do not use continuously for more than 7 days.
  • Do not take two doses at the same time.

Children under 12 years: Not recommended

If you use more Non-Drowsy Sudafed Decongestant Nasal Spray than you should, talk to a doctor or pharmacist immediately.

You must see a doctor if your symptoms worsen or do not improve.

Sudafed Nasal Spray contains the active ingredient:

  • Xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.1% w/v

It also contains: Benzalkonium chloride, disodium edetate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium monohydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, sorbitol solution, purified water.

Warnings

Before using Sudafed Decongestant Nasal Spray

Do not use this product if:

  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients.
  • You are taking, or have taken within the last two weeks, Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs), used to treat depression.
  • You have recently had neurosurgery.
  • You are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Take special care with this product if: You have high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes or an over active thyroid gland.

Please consult your doctor or pharmacist even if these statements were applicable to you at any time in the past

Using other medicines: Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, even those not prescribed.

Pregnancy and Breast-feeding: Do not use this product if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Important information about some of the ingredients of Non-Drowsy Sudafed Decongestant Nasal Spray

  • This product contains benzalkonium chloride, an irritant which may cause skin reactions.
  • This product contains sorbitol solution. If you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before using this product.

Possible side effects

Side effects are not common with this product and when they occur they are usually mild and temporary. Occasionally Xylometazoline hydrochloride may cause local burning, soreness, dryness, irritation, stinging, itching or sneezing. Nausea and headache may rarely occur. Prolonged continuous use may occasionally cause rebound congestion.
