Actifed Dry Coughs (100ml) [P]
Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs relieves the symptoms of colds and flu including runny nose, watery eyes, nasal congestion, blocked sinuses and an irritating dry cough.
Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs contains:
- Pseudoephedrine (a decongestant) to help reduce nasal and sinus congestion and clear catarrh and triprolidine (an antihistamine) to help stop sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes
- Dextromethorphan (an antitussive) to help you stop coughing.
Pseudoephedrine Restrictions: Products containing pseudoephedrine are legally limited to one item per order, because this has in some cases been used to manufacture illegal drugs

How to take Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs
- Always read the information in your own product
Adults and children over 12 years:
- Take two 5 ml spoonfuls every 4 to 6 hours up to 4 times a day
- Maximum daily dose 40 ml
Children aged 6 to 12 years:
- Take one 5 ml spoonful every 4 to 6 hours up to 4 times a day
- Maximum daily dose 20 ml
Not recommended for children under 6 years
- Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten individual doses
- You must see a doctor if your symptoms worsen or do not improve

Each 5 ml of Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs contains the active ingredients: Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 30 mg, Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 10 mg and Triprolidine hydrochloride 1.25 mg.
It also contains: Sorbitol, sucrose, sodium benzoate (E11), methyl hydroxybenzoate (E218), Ponceau 4R (E124), alcohol, blackberry flavour, menthol, vanillin and purified water.
- Each 5 ml contains 2.8 g sucrose and 1.0 g sorbitol
Do not take Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs if:
- You have ever had a bad reaction to any of the ingredients.
- You are taking, or have taken in the last two weeks, drugs for depression including Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs).
- You have high blood pressure or heart disease.
- You have lung disease or a persistent cough, have a cough associated with asthma, or produce a lot of mucus (phlegm).
- You have an inherited intolerance to fructose.
- You have kidney or liver problems.
- You have prostate disease, diabetes, glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) or an over-active thyroid.
- tricyclic antidepressants
- the antibacterial agent furazolidone
- decongestants, appetite suppressants, stimulants or sedatives
- medicines for high blood pressure (e.g. methyldopa)

Driving and using machines: Do not drive or operate machinery if Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs makes you drowsy or makes it difficult for you to concentrate. Avoid alcoholic drink.
If you take medicines which make you drowsy while you are taking Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs, the chances of getting these side-effects are increased.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs in pregnancy or whilst breast-feeding.
Important information about some of the ingredients in Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs: It contains 5% v/v of alcohol and may be harmful if you have liver disease, alcoholism, epilepsy, brain injury or brain disease. It also may modify or increase the effect of other medicines.
It also contains sodium benzoate which may irritate the skin, eyes and mucosal surfaces and methyl hydroxybenzoate which may cause skin reactions such as contact dermatitis and more rarely wheezing.
The colouring may cause allergic-type reactions including asthma. These reactions are more common in people who are allergic to aspirin
Side-effects: Like all medicines, Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs can have side-effects, although these are rare and usually mild. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any of the following: Sleep disturbances, drowsiness, hallucinations, dry mouth, nose or throat, skin rash with or without irritation, nausea and vomiting, upset stomach, difficulty in passing urine or palpitations.
