Non-Drowsy Sudafed Dry Cough Linctus  is used to soothe tickly dry coughs, and helps to unblock a stuffy nose:

Non-Drowsy Sudafed Dry Cough Linctus Contains Dextromethorphan and Pseudoephedrine:

  • Dextromethorphan is an antitussive which will suppress or relieve coughing
  • Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant which relieves nasal congestion

Directions

Sudafed Dry Cough Linctus Directions:

  • For oral use only
  • Not recommended for Children under 12 years
  • Always follow the instructions in your own product

Non-Drowsy Sudafed Linctus dosage:

Adults and children over 12 years:  Take two 5 ml spoonfuls every 4-6 hours up to 4 times a day

Children aged 6 to 12 years:  Take one 5ml spoonful every 4-6 hours up to 4 times a day

  • Leave at least 4 hours between doses
  • Do not give more than 4 doses in 24 hours
  • If symptoms persist talk to your doctor

If you may have taken more Non-Drowsy Sudafed Linctus than you should, talk to a doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Non-Drowsy Sudafed Dry Cough Linctus contains in every 5ml the active ingredients:

  • Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 30mg
  • Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 10mg

Sudafed Dry Cough also contains: sucrose, sorbitol solution, sodium benzoate (E211), methyl hydroxybenzoate (E218), ethanol, blackcurrant flavour, L-menthol, colouring (E124) and purified water.

Warnings

Non-Drowsy Sudafed Linctus is suitable for most people, but a few people should not take it:

Do not take Non-Drowsy Sudafed Linctus before talking to your doctor or pharmacist if:

  • You have ever had a reaction to Non-Drowsy Sudafed Linctus or to any of the ingredients
  • You suffer from liver, kidney or lung disease
  • You suffer from diabetes, an over-active thyroid, prostate disease or glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye)
  • You suffer from high blood pressure or have problems with your heart
  • You suffer from persistent cough such as occurs with asthma, or produce a lot of mucus (phlegm)
  • You are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breast-feeding
  • You take anti-depressants known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or have taken them in the last two weeks
  • You have an inherited intolerance to fructose or related conditions
Important information about some of the ingredients in Sudafed Dry Cough Linctus:
  • The colouring may cause allergic-type reactions such as asthma. This is more common in those people who are allergic to aspirin.
  • Each 5 ml of product contains 5% v/v ethanol (alcohol) and may be harmful if you have a liver disease, alcoholism, epilepsy, brain injury or brain disease. It may also modify or increase the effect of other medicines.
  • Each 5 ml of product contains 0.7 g of sorbitol and 2.8 g sucrose: Sorbitol may cause stomach upset and diarrhoea when taken in large doses.
  • This product contains methyl hydroxybenzoate which may cause skin reactions such as contact dermatitis and more rarely wheezing.
  • It also contains sodium benzoate, which may irritate the skin, eyes and mucosal surfaces.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Sudafed Dry Cough Linctus if you are taking:
  • Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors or tricyclic anti-depressants
  • Decongestants, appetite suppressants or stimulants
  • Medicines for high blood pressure
Do not take Non-Drowsy Sudafed Linctus with other medicines containing pseudoephedrine or dextromethorphan

Side effects are not common with Sudafed Dry Cough Linctus: Pseudoephedrine may rarely cause sleep disturbance or very rarely hallucinations and dextromethorphan may sometimes cause an upset stomach, nausea and vomiting. Occasionally, skin rash with or without irritation or difficulty in passing urine may occur.

If you get any of these, or any other unusual effects, stop taking the medicine and tell your doctor or pharmacist at once.
