FreeStyle Freedom Lite Blood Glucose Meter is an improved version of the FreeStyle Freedom Blood Glucose Meter and was launched in December 2007.

It retains the features of the FreeStyle Freedom, but now uses the FreeStyle Lite Test Strips which needs no coding adjustment to the meter between different batches.

Only 0.3 microlitres of blood are needed for a test, and the makers claim that this is the smallest drop of blood needed for blood glucose testing.

Multiple site testing lets you take the blood from other areas which are less sensitive than the ends of your fingers, such as from your upper arms, forearms, hands, fingers, thighs, or calves. This lets you give your fingers a rest.

SuperLiving Pharmacy recommend that you discuss multiple site testing with your doctor or practice nurse before relying on multiple site testing, as it isn't suitable for everyone, and may give less accurate readings under some circumstances. It is also recommended that you test on your fingers if you are testing for hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose) or if you suffer from hypoglycaemia unawareness.

Use Outside the UK: This meter gives readings in mmol/l, which are the standard units used in the UK. Some countries use the US standard of mg/dl and this meter will not be suitable for you to use
