Paracodol Capsules provide strong, fast acting relief from: headaches (including tension headache and migraine), cold and flu symptoms including raised temperature and sore throats; muscular and rheumatic pain; back pain (including sciatica), neuralgia, period pain and dental pain.

Paracodol Capsules are a combination of Codeine and Paracetamol:
Codeine: One of the strongest painkillers available without prescription
Paracetamol: Which relieves pain and reduces fever
- Can cause addiction. For three days use only.
- If you need to use this medicine for more than three days at a time, see your doctor, pharmacist or health care professional.
- Taking codeine regularly for a long time can lead to addiction, which might cause you to feel restless and irritable when you stop the tablets.
- Taking a painkiller for headaches too often or for too long can make them worse.
How to take Paracodol Capsules:
- Always read the full information in your own product
- Not recommended for children under 12 years
Adults and children over 12 years:
- 1-2 Paracodol capsules
- Repeated if necessary every 4-6 hours
- A maximum of 8 capsules a day
- Do not exceed the stated dose
- If symptoms persist consult your doctor
If you take too many Paracodol Capsules, speak to a doctor or go to the nearest casualty department straight away. Take the carton and any remaining capsules with you to show the doctor. Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose, even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage.
Each Paracodol Capsule contains the active ingredients: Paracetamol 500mg and codeine phosphate 8mg.
Inactive ingredients: Pregelatinised maize starch, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, gelatin, shellac, iron oxide.
Do not take Paracodol Capsules:
- With any other paracetamol containing medicines
- If you are allergic to any of the ingredients
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Paracodol Capsules if you:
- Are taking prescription medicines
- Are taking any other medicines containing paracetamol, codeine, metoclopramide, domperidone, cholestyramine
- Are taking medicines which affect the liver
- Have a liver or kidney condition
- Are pregnant, or think you may be pregnant
If you need to use Paracodol Capsules for more than three days at a time, see your doctor, pharmacist or health care professional:
- Taking codeine regularly for a long time can lead to addiction which might cause you to feel restless and irritable when you stop the capsules
- Taking a painkiller for headaches too often or for too long can make them worse
Side effects are rare at the recommended doses, but occasionally Paracodol Capsules can cause constipation.
As with all medicines, some people may be allergic to Paracodol Capsules. If you are allergic, a reaction will occur soon after you have taken or used the medicine.
You should speak to your doctor if you:
- Have problems breathing, facial swelling or general itchiness
- Notice that you bruise or bleed more easily than usual or if your are more prone to infection, such as sore throat or mouth ulcers
Any other unusual effects should be reported to your pharmacist
