Feminax Period Pain Capsules are for the relief of period pain, headaches (including tension headaches and migraine), cold and flu symptoms including raised temperature and sore throats, muscular and rheumatic pain, back pain (including sciatica), neuralgia and dental pain.

Feminax Period Pain Capsules are a combination of codeine, which relieves pain, and paracetamol, which relieves pain and fever.

Codeine Restrictions: Products containing codeine and codeine related products may not be supplied to the USA and Norway

Directions

Feminax Period Pain Capsules How to take:

Adults and children over 12 years:

  • Take 1-2 capsules
  • Repeat if necessary every 4-6 hours
  • Maximum of 8 capsules a day
  • Not recommended for children under 12 years.

Speak to your doctor or pharmacist if your symptoms persist or if you need any clarification on the use of this product.

Do not exceed the stated dose: If you take too many of these capsules, speak to a doctor or go to the nearest hospital casualty department straight away. Take the carton and any remaining capsules with you to show the doctor.

Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose, even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage.

Feminax Period Pain Capsules contain the active ingredients: paracetamol 500mg and codeine phosphate 8mg.

They also contain: pregelatinised maize starch, colloidal silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate (E572).

The capsule shell contains: gelatin, shellac (E904) and red iron oxide (E172).

WarningsWhen not to take Feminax Period Pain Capsules:
  • Do not take with any other paracetamol-containing products.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to any of the ingredients

Before taking Feminax Period Pain Capsules:

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Feminax Period Pain Capsules if you:

  • Are taking prescription medicines
  • Are taking medicines containing codeine, metoclopramide, domperidone, colestyramine.
  • Are taking medicines which affect the liver
  • Have a liver or kidney condition
  • Are pregnant or think you may be pregnant

If you need to use this medicine for more than three days at a time, see your doctor, pharmacist or health care professional.

  • Taking codeine regularly for a long time can lead to addiction, which might cause you to feel restless and irritable when you stop the capsules.
  • Taking a painkiller for headaches too often or for too long can make them worse.

Side effects are rare at recommended doses but occasionally the capsules can cause constipation.

Any other unusual effects should be reported to your doctor or pharmacist. If you notice that you bruise or bleed more easily than usual or if you are more prone to infection, such as sore throats or mouth ulcers, you should speak to your doctor.
