Syndol (30 Tablets) [P]
Syndol is used for the treatment of mild to moderate pain and as an antipyretic: is recommended for the symptomatic relief of headache, including muscle-contraction or tension headache, migraine, neuralgia, toothache, sore throat, dysmenorrhoea (period pain), muscular and rheumatic aches and pains and for pain relief following surgery or dental procedures.
Each Syndol tablet contains- Paracetamol an analgesic (pain killer) and antipyretic (lowers body temperature)
- Codeine Phosphate is also an analgesic
- Doxylamine Succinate an antihistamine
- Caffeine is a mild stimulant
How to take Syndol Tablets:
- Syndol tablets should be taken orally and swallowed
Adults and children over 12 years:
- Take one or two tablets every four or six hours as needed for relief
- Do not take more than eight tablets in a 24 hour period
Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose, even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage.
- Do not take with any other paracetamol containing products
- Do not exceed the stated dose
Syndol Tablets contain the active ingredients:
- Paracetamol BP 450mg
- Codeine Phosphate BP 10mg
- Doxylamine Succinate NF 5mg
- Caffeine BP 30mg
Syndol also contains: Corn Starch, Povidone, Talc, Magnesium Stearate, Ac-Di-Sol, Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (Methocel E15), Polyethylene Glycol 400, Quinoline Yellow Aluminium Lake (E104), Sunset Yellow Aluminium Lake (E110), Titanium Dioxide, Lactose and Polyethylene Glycol 4000
Before taking Syndol
Do not to take Syndol Tablets: If you are sensitive to any of the ingredients
Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Syndol is not recommended for use during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding
Children and the elderly:
- Syndol should not be given to children under 12 years of age
- There are no extra precautions to take if you are elderly
Syndol tablets should not be taken continuously over prolonged periods in the maximum dose:
- If you need to take the tablets for more than three days at a time, see your doctor, pharmacist or healthcare professional.
- Taking codeine regularly for a long time can lead to addiction, which, might cause you to feel restless and irritable when you stop taking the tablets.
- Taking a painkiller for headaches too often or for too long can make them worse
Syndol may cause drowsiness:
- If affected, do not drive or operate machinery
- Avoid alcoholic drink
Interactions: No other medicines are known to influence the effect of Syndol
- Alcoholic drink should be avoided whilst taking Syndol
Side effects that may occur when taking Syndol:
- Drowsiness or dizziness may occur
- Constipation may occur
- Agranulocytosis (reduction or absence of granulocytes or polymorphonuclear leucocytes)
If you experience any of the side effects mentioned above, stop taking the tablets and see your pharmacist or doctor, who will advise you on the necessary action to take.
